Guest today is hitting the road for the next leg of their vacation. They are sitting at the end of the driveway for about 10 minutes until they come back to the door. Can't figure out how to program the GPS to take them to the next inn.
We don't have a GPS but I have no fear of technology so I asked her to show me what she was doing.
Long story short, their GPS does not have ANY info about Canada, their next destination. So, they print out a route on our computer and off they go with a printout from Mapquest. I hope they have a real map in the car because I don't find Mapquest very helpful.

I'll bet there's a whole generation of people coming on who have never seen a real fold-out map, so don't know how good they are (were).
Dag nab it, I miss 1975!

I do not miss 1975, but I keep a supply of maps for my guests - and they ask for them. I also keep a Gazetteer to loan to my guests when they go exploring or with one of my routings - in case they decide to go exploring I want them back for the second night. I show them how to use it.
Two things I taught my kids to do early on - the value of money (which coin was which and its worth) and how to read a road map. The basic needs.

I have found many of our guests are not aware that they must load the Canada maps in the GPS. Many of them only have the US. I have also found MapQuest lacking. I use Google Maps if required.

It was odd what did show up! Bermuda? Cayman Islands? But no Canada.

You mean a map of the US like this....

We've seen maps where we were coloured like the Ocean. Completely forgotten. The Old Navy ad has two versions, the US version only the US lights up. Like this...

The Canadian version US/Canada light up including Alaska, not just Canada. Yes, we notice it. No, it's nothing new.
