Hilton's new Home2 Suites extended stay brand was launched earlier this year with a lobby concept designed to bring business travelers out of their rooms. Tables and colorful couches offer inviting space for informal meetings as well as areas where anyone can plop down with a laptop and a beverage rather than sitting alone in a room watching TV.
I think I call this a 'living room'. Ahead of the curve, once again!
The locavore and hyperlocal trend that has taken over the food world is fast becoming de rigueur in the hotel industry, particularly at high-end and boutique properties where chefs are growing their own herbs and even hosting their own beehives. The W in San Francisco in September had a local beekeeper, Jack Ip, install hives on a rooftop with a goal of eventually producing honey for use in the hotel menu.
Maple syrup from my own trees? Does that count? Next year I get serious about the herb garden. It requires ripping out some shrubs I already hate, so not a really big deal.

Single biggest reason for Augusta, GA's tourism growth - The Master's Golf Tournament. A huge event in the Spring every year. They also have GA's only medical college there and the Savannah River Authority nuclear site. Augusta is a border city also with North Augusta, SC.
Other than that, I don't think there's much happening there - they have unexplored potential with their riverwalk, but they have closed several tourist sites. The downtown is still struggling with renovation.
