So now they cave in!!! We had Allstate from the moment we purchased our first home until the day (well close) we opened our B&B. Allstate had no B&B plans, thought it was too risky! Every now and again we call our agent and ask.
Interesting quote here of their new way of thinking: “If a temporary renter accidentally set a fire in the kitchen trying to cook dinner, you’d still be covered without this endorsement,” said Allstate spokesman Justin Herndon. “But if a temporary renter cracked your flat-screen TV or stole your home theater system, you wouldn’t have any coverage without this [rider].”
Back when we had Allstate the agent told us that if we had a paying temp. renter that set fire to our home that we would not be covered. In fact we were told that if we had any claim while having a paying temp renter the claim would be denied and our insurance revoked..
