Spiralizer
I'd like a mandoline but a good one appears to be super pricey. The spiralizer would be kind of gimmicky, but I think we'd use it a lot for garnishes. The twisty orange slice is getting old.

I have both and have never used my spiral cutter appliance ever. You don't have to pay a fortune for a mandolins there are lots of less expensive slicers out there: check b b &beyond

I have both and use both. We bought the OXO mandolin and the Paderno spiralizer. I use the spiralizer to make potato pancakes sometimes. They come out extremely interesting and very crispy. The mandolin I use to slice things all the time thinly.
But I also don't do garnishes.

I bought a mandolin about a year ago and love it. I don't use it much for breakfast, but do for our personal cooking. I think I bought it for about $50. It's a really good one.
I see you can get it for $40 now
You don't really need a spiralizer if you have a mandolin. You can use one of the grater blades and just put the veggie lengthwise to achieve the same things.

You don't really need a spiralizer if you have a mandolin. You can use one of the grater blades and just put the veggie lengthwise to achieve the same things..
Interesting that what gets sold most with that is a cut resistant glove!
But glad to know it's good for both uses.

Well I saw the description as surgical sharp so yeah, be careful! Maybe it's not the right tool for Gomez who generally looks like Les Nessman when he's done working with sharp implements.

The sharper the implement, the less likely he'll cut himself. Use the guard.

I have a mandoline that has never been used. Happy to bring it when I drive north this spring if Gomez can wait that long.

I have a Moulinex (Jeannette) 244. Is this the same as a Mandoline that you are talking about?

Love my mandoline but ouchy ouchy. Sliced off the tip of my baby finger last Monday slicing cabbage. Very stupid of me. I was talking to DH while I was doing it. Would not stop bleeding until I went to bed that night and it throbbed for two days.
That being said, I love using it. Just two days prior, I sliced enough potatoes for a massive scalloped potato meal for 20 people. Took me less than ten minutes and the slices were all nice and thin. I don't cut myself often because normally I'm in the kitchen alone and not distracted. But when DH is in there with me, all my sense leaves my brains.

OH, the Guilt! I have a spiralizer ... still in the box.
Never thought about having a mandolin in the kitchen. Could play tunes for guests I guess.

I've used my spiralizer twice...................in two years.

There are a lot of attachments for a kitchenaid mixer. A little more money but you can use it for so many things and considering its a business write-off it might make sense for you. No more sliced fingers, too. :)
