Does anyone know why mattress manufacturers don't put handles on the sides of the mattresses any more? Does it have something to do with the fact that most are pillow-tops so you can't 'flip' them? I'm just curious. Getting two new mattresses tomorrow so we took the old ones off in preparation and had to move them downstairs sans handles.

My original mattresses 20 years ago were pillowtops and they had handles. I still have the original queen - and it is pillowtop BOTH sides. It gets flipped. the new mattresses are the turn variety - I do not like that.

Ha! Good question. They could be recessive for that smooth all around feel that people like. But sure would help.

I would guess the same reason the microwave and frozen convenience food dept is larger than the whole food at a grocery store now.
