Off topic, but affects many of us. No more WORD, they so they can't sell it unless they change the application, but they still owe the company 240 mil. That leaves the door open for Microsoft to issue a patch that alters Word's functionality in such a way as to circumvent the ban
The stakes are high. Microsoft Office, which includes Word, accounted for more than $3 billion in worldwide sales in Microsoft's most recent fiscal year. Any prolonged ban on Microsoft Word sales could severely impact the company's top line. it infringes upon all releases of 2003 2007

Here is one time I guess I'm glad I stuck to my old word processing program and didn't migrate all my files over.

There is OpenOffice which is free and somewhat decent (better every year anyway). It's a substitute for Word, Excel, etc. I don't think it can open docx files (last I checked) and it does have some hiccups, but it really is usable and has a huge portion of the features that the MS products do. I would still be using it happily if somebody didn't give me a copy of Office 2007 last month.

If WORD goes away, you can be sure someone will develop an app to convert the files to .RTF or some other generic format.

Thanks for that. I have a lot of old research documents in WordPerfect that I haven't been able to access.

I haven't had any issues. I use the free part and it takes a few hours to get the conversion, they want you to to pay for the full membership to get quicker turn-around.
