Yes, it is Off Topic. But I would like to encourage any person on here who can vote to go vote. This is history in the making.

Especially if you're voting for my candidate!

We voted early at separate times & the lines weren't too bad. I waited about 50 minutes. We had a huge early voting turnout here.
I would be curious about how the lines are in other areas of the country today?

We got there 10 minutes before the polls opened, so only had to wait about 15 minutes in line. The people are voting quickly and the machines are working just fine.

I'm heading out in an hour. Needed to finish up the lesson for the day. The kids have been learning about the electoral process. Today, they get to see it in action.

Just returned from voting and we stood in line in our dinky little town for almost 90 min. I could not believe it!! The check in process here is so antiquated. It only took 2 seconds to vote but trying to get in was the issue. But glad I did it...for this time it is historical!

Just got back...took longer to walk there and back than it did to vote. No lines, no waiting at all.

Walked over, walked in, voted, came home in about 15 minutes. No lines, no waiting. They did have a couple of extra people helping out, and I think there may have been extra machines (4 today, usually 2?).
And even though I recognized all four poll workers, they dutifully checked my ID and my signature...

Don't know about your location but we have poll watchers here (the one when I voted is a neighbor of mine). He said that they are doing a really good job. Part of the delay here is that if someone shows up who is not voting in the right location, they will find that person on the registration lists & where they need to vote! We had 6 machines instead of the usual 4 at my polling place.

The lines were the longest they had ever seen said one fellow I stood next to... the line was about 15 feet! :)

We got there when polls opened. We are usually 1-4 in line and walk right in. We had a 30 minute wait. There are 4 booths, no machines, all manual. Same 4 booths as in the past.
Lots of people that had just registered and had their cards in hand.

13 pages!!!! What did you have to vote on? Must have been time for every elected position? we had 3 items and that was it.

In and out in under 10 minutes, even at lunch time and with a 13-page ballot.
Had enough time left over to get my hair cut -- first time in 3 months!

We had a TON of local issues. First labor folks put a bunch on, then the business replied with their own to counteract the unions. Of course the usual school and library funding issues, and about 47,000 judges that needed to be confirmed. One really needed to have the issues sorted out first (and it appeared most did), because there is a 15-minute limit in the booth.

We do schools and town issues separately in March/April/May at 'town meeting' (depends on the town, what month).

We had three pages. Well, I think it was three... we have these cool electronic machines and when we print our ballot it takes three "pages" (screens) to do it.
Pres, senator, state judges, and all the locals (judges, prosecutor, clerk of court, etc.).
Five ballot issues: three boring language changes, #4 was for mandatory sick days and had been pulled, #5 was to cap "payday lending" to 28% (otherwise they'd charge 391%!), and #6 was to allow a casino in Ohio. Then two or three local levies.

We had a casino vote, too.

Our first machine did not work. We called and it was replaced. Did not take too long for that to happen and people had no problem using paper ballots. We had lines several times during the day., Our biggest problem today was for the poll workers - being able to GO TO THE BATHROOM!!! There was a steady stream of voters and just as you thought "thnk goodness! FINALLY!!" another voter would come in!
I think one woman was testing us. I noticed she was wearing t T-shirt with a candidate's name on the back. I went up to her and told her I was going to turn the bottom of her shirt up to cover that name. Then she said someing about the front of her shirt which I had not seen since I only saw her back - a picture of the candidate. I told she had to remove the shirt and she got very huffy, but did remove it. Was very nice on her way out. I think she was setting us up to see what would happen because she had a shirt on under the T-shirt (which is why I was able to ask her to remove it - I would have asked her to leave or put on a jacket otherwise. This was the only incident today at our precinct. HUGE turnout and heavy early voting. Two pages - the front and back of a single page. Even with going to the County Seat with the ballot box (I was the opposition commissioner) I was home by 9pm!
Oh I forgot, one woman asked me if I could tell her who the incumbant was and I said No, I cannot. It was a stupid question because only one party gets elected in West Virginia! All she had to do was look for the party affiliation to know who was the incumbant!! DUH!

just curious...how come she was not allowed to wear the t shirt with the candidate name & picture on it?
