as a guest, i love finding chocolate in my room.
so, i've been putting a small amount of wrapped chocolate on a tray in the guest rooms. but i keep finding smudged chocolate on quilts, comforters, bathrobes, pillow cases and/or sheets. some times it comes out in the wash, some times not. i don't understand why they aren't more careful. i haven't been leaving a lot of chocolate for them ... just a little.
i guess i'm not going to give out any more chocolate. maybe it gets too soft during summer. bummer.

Rather than putting it in the room...maybe just have a candy dish in the library or somewhere they will see it and then they can help themselves. You are right...they aren't careful and they don't care:-(

If your rooms are not kept at a certain temp - ie central a/c I could not put chocolate in there at all. Our cottage has the wall a/c unit, and I just put some out for check in, but I can't keep any out there, it will melt away real fast.

My God people, have you never heard of M&Ms? They melt in your mouth not on your quilts, comforters, bathrobes, pillow cases and/or sheets!
Seriously, try the Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses. They hold up pretty well unless subjected to very warm temperatures. We put the Giradelli squares and don't have a problem with those either.

I know what you mean.
Have a guest here who says she loves me forever because she found a large (2x) fuzzy robe in her room. Every other place she's been to only has had dinky robes. She loved it so much she wore it to breakfast. (It's all women today, all here for a conference.) So I watched the sleeve of the robe dangle millimeters from the Eggs Florentine (as well as her cup of coffee) and tried not to cringe out loud.
=)
Kk.

I have a bowl of chocolates in the hallway. I haven't found much chocolate on the bedding, but I do find little bits of tinfoil and the streamers from the kisses all over the place.

I find Hershey's tails and silver wrapper pieces here and there, but no chocolate smears so far. If it is a single as I will have in 2 rooms Sunday, I have a dish with a variety of Hershey kisses (Hugs, caramel, peanut butter, cordial cherry, and dark) on the dresser. Tonight I have a couple so there are red & white silk rose petals scattered on the bed with the kisses. I do NOT put them (kisses) on the bed until I have put the A/C on in that room.

I have only had one bad chocolate experience. I had a LARGE man SLEEP on it! Brand new sheets! First time on a bed! As he left, he advised me it wasn't what it looked like. I PANICKED, but I used the Oxi-Clean rug cleaner in a green bottle and in 1-2 washes it was as good as new. We put Baker's melt away chocolates on guest pillows when they go out for dinner. One milk chocolate and one dark chocolate. Made is Ashland, Nebraska.

Locally, Walgreens tends to handle them.

I found this video looking for a secret treatment for removing chocolate stains...but by the time they got done listing all the materials I decided it was easier to throw the item directly into the rag bin. LOL
How To Remove Chocolate Stains From Clothes

We have turndown chocolates here and haven't had a problem with them since opening in March. But, I had chocolate brownie crumbs (fudgey and baked with a chocolate bar inside) all over a white matelasse cover. ugh. It came out with rinsing and then soaking in detergent & oxyclean before the wash. I also pretreated with the dual spray cleaner.
I have star mints, butter scotch candies, and Jolly Ranchers in the candy dishes in a couple of common areas.

M & M's though I love them..are not for group consumption unless individuall packaged.....I mean you can't have them out for everyone to just dip their grubby hands into the bowl;-(

One red and one yellow M&M on the pillows. LOL
I found dove chocolates indiv wrapped in pretty foil on sale at Kroger yesterday marked 75% off. I LOVE when that happens. They had pretty purple which are creamy dark chocolate and a lovely pink which were creamy milk chocolate. Plus Hershey had some upscale versions there as well, indiv wrapped, but not as pretty.
One little granny came by just because I was buying them and said, What? $1.40 for them, I don't need em. Moved on past. Good for you grandma!

I was just being facetious. Which reminds me of an M&M joke.
A young man arrives at the home of his new girlfriend to pick her up for their first date. He is greated cordially by her parents at the door and escorted into the parlor where he is asked to wait because the young lady in question is not quite ready. The parents depart to another room.
Since his plans include impressing her with a nice dinner, he has not eaten and his stomach begins to growel. He notices, on a small table, a bowl of peanuts. Looking around to make sure no one was watching, he grabs a handful and pops them into his mouth.
Finally, his date arrives and the first thing she notices is the now empty bowl on the table. "What happened to all the M&Ms" she asks. "M&Ms?" he replied.
"Yes, M&Ms. We always keep a bowl of Peanut M&Ms here because Grandma likes to suck the chocolate off of them, but doesn't like the peanuts so just puts them back in the bowl."

Even in our heat the chocolate melts, but so far (touch wood) have not had any issues with chocolate on the beds. One could not come to our B&B and not get chocolate. lol
It has been a concern though as the weather here has been hot, but our really warm weather is not until Spring. Thinking of handing it to the guests as they arrive, quick eat it now!!

True story,
Since I stopped serving chocolates to our guests, I have lost 10 lbs.?

We have way too much chocolate in the house. Bars for putting in the muffins and scones ... and dipped strawberries ... and for some reason we feel the need to eat those bars, which only means we have to buy more.
This would be a major contribution to not being able to drop the chocolate rolls ;) which have accumulated on my body :(

Well I haven't had chocolate / practically any sugar of any type in over a month and I have just about reached my breaking point:-( I don't see any difference and I miss it. I am telling my Dr. so tomorrow

I did once havea problem with chocolate - in fact the mattress pad still has the chocolate stain (very faded). Our grandchildren were here and the teenaged grandson fell asleep and his chocolate bunny was in the bed - he forgot to put it on the dresser. He felt badly - but grandchildren can do no wrong - especially when they are beating themselves up for it......

I put about 6 different ones in a dish on the coffee table in the suite.
Walgreens here handles Bakers too, but I can buy by the pound at Super Saver.
The grandkids talk grandpa into taking them to the outlet in Ashland so they can by seconds by the pound.

We had this weird guest once. His name was Wonka something. Anyway, he brought his own chocolate....lots of it! We wouldn't let him check in because he brought all his kids with him and we don't accept children. He kept calling them Oompa Loompas, which I think is a terrible thing to call a child because it can be bad for their self esteem. They were ugly little buggers too!
