Lovely guests, they have a great time every year. But. 4 rooms are checking out today, the rest are staying another night. The guests who are leaving? Still in their jammies in the dining room. They keep saying they have to go take showers, then they get more coffee. We've put all the breakfast stuff away. Cleaned around them.

That's such a dilemma. You don't want to be the cranky innkeeper and interrupt what is obviously your guests enjoying themselves, but at the same time you have to be mindful of your time so you can get the rooms turned and not MAKE yourself cranky.

They skipped the showers to keep talking and were gone by 11:30.

we have a large group from 1 company who come every year for a particular event - even though they come with the boss and boss's son (ie VP but really nice) there is always some problem with the staff -
this year room 8 smoking in room last year girl came first night was supposed to go back for something ie friend's birthday then return next day - never came back for 3 days so we couldn't let her room, show was understaffed and apparently it wasn't the first time she had gone AWAL - me I would have rung and said we will post your stuff don't bother coming back.
Boxes of stuff was supposed to be delivered here (ie brochures) never came but we had to be in, incase it did. Plus helping buy Hyacynthis for their display and never know when they are coming for breakfast and usually about half don't bother but there we are.

2 rooms sat at the tables talking for over an hour after breakfast. I thought for sure they had forgotten they were to check out today.
But it is always nice so hear strangers becoming friends. After all that is part of why we do this.
It is all well and good until 11am, that is when the warm and fuzzy wears thin. ha ha

And tonight the rest of them are supposed to check in. Haven't seen a one of them yet.
