Good Morning All
It is raining here again. Yesterday I spoke with one of the locals. They said they don't ever remember a July like this. It is the coldest it has ever been for July.
Man this month has been so lean .We have had 21 bookings instead of 60 bookings in a month. The weather here has been cold. The beach have a few brave bodies. Our apple tree has only one lonely apple on the whole tree. It was too cold for the bees to pollenate in the Spring. This has been our worse month ever. Aug. does not look any better.
Yet out East everyone is suffering with such high heats. Forest fires out of control. Our farmers are having a rough go of it too. The grounds were under water for so long they could not plant now it has so much heat they are getting burnt. What the heck is going on ?

We're possibly going to hit 100 here today. VERY unusual. All of my flowering baskets are dead. I can't keep up with them.

I feel your pain. I've been watering mine 2x a day and they're mostly hanging in there.

I think i would take the rain. It is about 95 right now here and going higher for the next 3 days. :-( I hope this doesn't become the norm weather pattern of the future :-(

we have the opposite its sunny one day then rains all the next so the weeds are going mad growing everywhere I can't keep up!

Temp just went DOWN to 100. This is madness. I'm wilting, I'm wilting. Our a/cs in the rooms are having a hard time keeping up because it's so humid but it has to be better than no a/c.

Thank goodness we got the A/C in the car fixed when we got back!! We have not had working A/C in the car for 2 years. It was almost $1000 but am I ever glad it is fixed! Escort duty to bring horses to the stable today and tomorrow! UGH!

And the rain keeps falling down here too. I will NOT complain!!! We were so dry during spring and early summer it is nice not to need to water. And it has kept the temps down from the sweltering temps we had in May. I will not complain!!!

Me, too. We ran our lone A/C unit all night and the temp INSIDE got down to 78 this morning. The inn A/C for the common areas ran until midnight and then we started it up again at 6 AM. Still running. Even with the shades down it's 78 in the dining room. Would be much worse without the A/C. It's 99 outside.
I just let a guest in and almost keeled over.

Currently "watering" our A/C unit so it does not overheat and shut off. We are fortunate to be on a very deep well so the water is nice and cold. 99 in the shade here right now.
We could really use some rain, it's hard to believe it can be this hot and humid and not pop up a thunderstorm...gonna do a rain dance now.

In the middle of the night I felt really guilty my cat was on the back sunporch. I have a ceiling fan going in there and I actually put an ice pack on the tile floor to chill it...but that was only in one spot. So about 3 I got up and brought him to bed with me. Usually he wouldn't stay but last night he did so I figured he needed to be in.

It was so hot/humid here this morning that whenever the door to the upstairs porch was open the smoke alarm starting going off - from the condensation forming where the colder inside air hit the hot outside air. It's booming now, and I'm really hoping for a downpour.

The things we do for the animals...my dog paced and paced all Wed nite-Thurs morn so last night we left the A/C on (we needed it, too) and gave her a fan on the floor that blew the cooler air right at her. Worked like a charm. She slept all night.

Your guests are LUCKY. I have no common area a/c - just the rooms. Breakfast tomorrow should be fun. Got my hair chopped today - really chopped. I think it's called a pixy cut. DH wanted me to start growing it again - but NO NO a thousand times NO - not in this heat.

I had a pixie when I was 5. That's gotta be something with your hair!

The A/C doesn't reach into the kitchen. But at least the dining room is somewhat cooler. If we have an open room we leave that A/C on to cool that part of the building.
Guest today walked into what I thought was a too hot room and asked how to turn the A/C off as she was freezing. It takes all kinds.

We got a gully-washer just as we were leaving the stable. I know the road and I could hardly see! Got drenched just going from the car into the kitchen.
Then the phone rang - the Lord's Pantry is having a gospel sing Music Festival fundraiser. One of the groups performing is a family from Ohio that lives about 5 hours away. Do you have rooms? Well just so happens I have 2 - one double bed in each room. Pray for me folks - they have 9 kids! Not a mis-type, that is NINE! Mostly little (they adopted most or all, don't know which) so I have spread sheets and whatever on the floor, rounded up almost enough pillows. they had not planned to spend the night so no clothes to change into. Told the husband to designate someone to put on a robe and toss the clothes down and I will do a load.
Horse lady has a 7:00 breakfast and they want 10. Works for me so i have time to get milk and cook up a mess of food. Pray for me. Have someone coming in for that room tomorrow but I think I will just flip the other room and upgrade her - easier on me.

Wow your weather is the normal for here. But not this year. My kitchen usually is about 40c every morning about this time of year. Now Iam sitting at half that. (if I am lucky. ) Yes Canada does have hot weather. And usually lots of forest fires. This time last year we had 450 fires burning.
I will send some positive thoughts your way for rain . Not the kind that causes you floods . Just a gentle down pour.Your flowers are drying up ours are drowning.
But the grass and the mountain/hills are green !Our grass is so green we have never seen such green grass at this time of year Funny side our roof is growing moss on it. !!!! Wow moss! I have taken a few pictures for history.. For the first time in 10 years we are not on water rations. Usually by March we are starting rationing water . Heck I have to cut the grass least twice in a week. Unheard of.
The visitor centre said busness is slower this year. People are looking for bargins. Our gas prices are high also about $ 4.61 a gals US dollars. Food cost are rising fast . With all that gloom no wonder things are slow. I know it could alway be worse!
It is going to be a hard year for everyone this year. For some harder then others. May we all make it through and come out of this ression with all in tact.
