Was it recon by me or the guest?
Reconnaissance is a mission to obtain information by visual observation or other detection methods,
Definition of RECONNAISSANCE. : a preliminary survey to gain information;
This is not a complaint, just another peculiarity I found today. Guests told me how much they enjoyed staying with us and plan to come back. They were really sweet at breakfast. Enjoyed their whole meal, didn't fold napkins strangely or cut up everything and segregate it on the plate or anything like that (have seen that too!)
Last night DH had to check in the guests, who were very nice, btw as I had a class, they got here around 715PM. I arrived home at 845PM and DH told me the dude just opened the kitchen doors and walked on in. He said "I was behind him so asked if I could help him with something?" Once inside he opened the fridge. DH escorted him out. He is a nice man part of a couple who seemingly were very "normal." Professional well to do, middle aged.
So this morning he attempted this again, with me, I walked toward him to encourage him OUT of the kitchen where I was preparing their food, and said I can get something for him, what does he need? He had a one tract mind and wanted in the kitchen. I got him a small baggie of ice and then closed the doors - our kitchen has doors, which we lock when we aren't serving guests etc. Back to breakfast...
DD said she heard someone in the suite - over the kitchen, not these guests room. I have all other rooms locked up there, but keys are hanging nearby, so not locked in a harsh way, just casually. A closed door means keep out. A locked door really means keep out. When I went up there that door was left unlocked - would be by the guest, not us.
I just went up to strip their room. What the! Everything (in less than 24hours time) had been relocated, moved, adjusted. Example - all magazines from the stair hall were in their room, not nightstand or bed, but in drawers. Curtains drawn back - these are lacy so you can see through them, bed pillows stacked in closet and CLOSET spare pillows laying on bed (near head), books rearranged, framed prints moved. No need to go on, you get the idea.
Is that weird or what? I wonder what the deal is? OCD?

The pillows make me think they do not want anything the previous occupant may have used near them so they use the "spare" pillows because they are spare, no one would have used them. Hall magazines would not have been handled by guests because they are in the hall, not the room and the germy room magazines are in a drawer that they were not going to use anyway. I find my lacy sheers pulled aside often (tucked behind the holders) because I think they want to see out better,

Yeah I was thinking that too! Of course the bed pillows are new and clean and have covers under the pillowcases as well. The pillows are what was my CLUE on that issue as well. But really they were being sticky beaks all round. Glad we passed muster!

I wonder what they do at hotels? Going into your kitchen and then the fridge and the other rooms is beyond bounds. That is just cheeky (notice how I cleaned that one up!).

I've had guest re-arrange the rooms here as well. It drives me nuts. They will move furniture and anything on the shelves around. It is almost like they have to move it to make it "their's" well I can't wait until they check out so I can move it back.

Yes, and sometimes I think, oh hey that works like that. Chairs, furnishings, but this was anything not tied down, really. Quirky people I guess.

My DH would have escorted him out of the house if he found him in our kitchen...just plain RUDE.

Quirky is right! I have had some too, but not to the extent you describe. Bed (heavy) rearranged to block the window... they prefer little light. I don't think they intended us seeing the redesign as they were all apologetic and said they would place everything back before they leave. GOOD! And they did.
Moving art etc. is crazy. Busting in the kitchen & in the refrig. may mean he has to check out how you maintain your kitchen. At first I just thought he was just a friendly 'at home in the kitchen' type. I hate kitchen guests! I am not Paula Dean, I can't stand someone standing over me while I cook, not even DH. Get out! My fridge is mine - nothing in there for you!
Here is a song - just for this topic!

Love that song .....

CDO - OCD so bad that even the letters need to be alphabetical.
No use it reordering things now, it will only throw them further. Remove the key for the moment.
Finding someone in my kitchen would get them a "excuse me, can I help you?" Which, if you don't know, is Canadian for "What the f___ are you doing?"
Want to have a little fun? Next time you have friends and family over, buy a few dozen ping pong balls and carefully fill your medicine cabinet with them and just wait for someone to open it. Nothing is as funny as someone scrambling to stop the pinging sound. And it pretty much cures them of that bad habit, too.

LOL. The ping-pong-thing.

They were only one night. They also had tons of snacks, crumbs everywhere in the room. When he came down today with a huge bag of snack foods I said "Oh good you brought breakfast!"
Apparenlty DD said she saw the outside light on the suite go on and off, so he was also switching switches (it is by the outside door) so another odd one, it is not near the "enter the room and hit the lights" switches as you enter.
The thing with us is this, go into MY DOMAIN, you will feel the wrath. As mentioned, we have kids and you DO NOT GO THERE BUDDY, OR ELSE. They were not here when he tried to go into the kitchen today - over the threshold and I walked talking basically forcing him back out as I spoke.
Just bizarre all round.
OH and btw, not sure how y'all operate, but the SPARE pillows are NOT the best pillows, those are the old dogs. So in essence they chose pillows that had 100 times more use than the bed pillows.

Ping Pong - LOVE IT!!!

They re-arranged framed prints on the wall?? That is very, very odd!
We've had people rearrange stuff but not to that extent. Also had folks use the closet pillows rather than the bed pillows, all pillows are the same "age".
Quirky, definitely quirky....
