Hi Everybody - I apologize for being AWOL for a while.
I had my annual MMD (mini-melt-down) almost two weeks ago when the last guests (a full house) walked out of the door and I was faced with my first day off since May. Usually the week after Columbus Day is my sacrosanct, inviolable week off, but we stayed busier later this year (which was a huge relief and hopefully a good omen for the rest of the winter).
This meant, however that I was running on fumes by the time Columbus Day came and running on empty by the time the last room checked out and everything that should have come naturally felt forced, lacking and probably a little frenetic.
After a good cry and a day curled up on the sofa with cats and bad movies the world looked much better. I've been worrying ever since that I simply didn't give the last sets of guests everything I could so it was a huge and unexpected relief to see a kind review that I really don't feel I deserve.
I'm still working the store, but the great news is that I feel like a human again, I've been able to dive into every nook and cranny in the house and BEST OF ALL - every single thing got washed and ironed and the ironing board was taken down and put away for the first time in too long.
Full house this w/e but I'm humming to myself as I get the rooms ready.
