The article is here
I thought I would make a short list for our guests and put in the rooms to take with - or maybe use Vista Print and make up a card (like half page size or oversized postcard) with our details on it as well (of course).
Things they might spy while out and about around here or leaving from here to their next destination.
Would you care to add an item or two (funny or not) below. ie you won't see any White Castle's here...but you will see Bojangles. :) Natural and commercial things they might see on a road trip.

You are supposed to add a few to the list. I need some clever ideas.

I would LOVE to add to your list. But I'm afraid the things that guests would see here would not be the same things your guests would see! Well, besides the cows. We've got plenty of cows around here!
And I have to say that your ideas sound really very clever all on their own.
Edited to add: how about a 1 room schoolhouse? Do you have any of those nearby? We've got 3 lovely ones in almost all directions out...

I tried to make it fairly generic as we are near quite a few other states and they can drive rural off the beaten path (many of our guests do this and avoid highway travel - you know the whole blue ways thing) so for that there are no cracker barrels or starbucks. So if you have anything, I mean I can add vineyards, more specific things to the list...
Come on...if you got em spit em out.

a covered bridge

Thanks!!! Love them!
Love the group of Harleys...that's a keeper.
Covered bridge. Yeah baby :)
Elk were killed off years ago here, as were the buffalo - but there are buffalo farms.
I said Banjo as there is signage with a banjo, I don't think anyone would spot a banjo itself from the road, but ring ding ding ya never know! Deer Xng that is interesting, here they are just everywhere so they don't put up signs, but I do recall the crossing signs!
COOL thanks.

Falling Rocks sign
Dump truck hauling coal
Rest area
Gas well pumpers (rockers that resemble the perpetual motion birds)
one lane bridge sign
Road narrows sign

This activity is priceless! I love it. JB, you are without a doubt one of the most creative people I "know."

Okay then, here are just a few that folks here might see:
deer crossing sign
1-room schoolhouse (extra points if it's painted red)
cheese factory
coyotes on a hill (extra points if you see more than 3 together)
elk
cows in the middle of the road (extra points if you stop to call the sheriff)
vineyards
tasting rooms
a man in a cowboy hat
a girl in cowboy boots
anyone in a tie-dyed shirt
oyster farms
a Bay Laurel grove
a Eucalyptus grove
redwoods
a Douglas fir forest
a dam
Osprey nest (extra points if Osprey is on the nest)
Geese
Hawks (extra points if you can name the kind of Hawk)
a group of more than 6 Harley-Davidsons
an old Saloon
a yoga studio inside a Feed Barn
an art gallery inside a Feed Barn
a farmstand with an honor-system that's open 24 hours; just put your cash in the bucket

This activity is priceless! I love it. JB, you are without a doubt one of the most creative people I "know.".

Wow thank you. I am not crafty though. :) I am not a crafts person, so I keep telling DH when he wants me to mend or sew. An innmate and another visiting innmate on the forum had a hand in teaching my kids to knit. I appreciate those things, just have never been occupied by them.
There is an innmate who called and will be here shortly and will give this the first "Test run" and I showed DH and he had some really good ideas too. I sent the list from the forum to a friend in WA State who is 'training' it down to Disneyland from Tacoma with twin girls 12 and one son with Autism 10, I think they will have a lot of fun. Beats "I Spy."
I got the idea from a tweet (which I attached above)

Your final list was FUN! And after over 2000 miles of driving in about 10 days, we only missed one item. I think it's too early to be able to easily recognize tobacco plants. :-(
