I wanted to share this with you, this is an adult size sleeper chair.
If you didn't want to purchase the expensive, space hogging roll-a-way bed, this is an alternative.
You can find them on line in a variety of colors (page down and look right for more colors). And prices. I bought one from Amazon with free shipping (same brand). Has a ten year warranty. Some sleeper chairs are very hard, this one is the best choice, apparently, and NOT KID SIZE, so a teen or adult could use it if needed.

We used to have these and replaced them with the twin size roll a way bed (and I agree with you JB, it is a space hog but we keep one in the garage and one in our upstairs cleaning closet so it's not too much of a hassle to drag them out when needed). Adults didn't like sleeping on the floor with these "chairs", but kids loved them. They are really light so very easy to set up/put away.

Did not want to do anything in case you were and mess you up. Also did not want anyone to owe you a thank you for their purchase on you.

We have a fold up bed like this
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6340702/Trail/searchtext%3EGUEST+BEDS.htm
but it is reaching the end of its life and is only used for children. We only have 2 rooms big enough to get it in anyway but one is on the first floor and it weighs a ton. So I am thinking of replacing it with one of these.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6340702/Trail/searchtext%3EGUEST+BEDS.htm
which inflates itself and folds down into a small bag but i am wary of kids bouncing on it. this model is raised up or you can get one like a normal air bed that goes on the floor.
Just looking at options as storage space is at a premium and I want it light to move about.

We had one like this and it was ultra convenient because when not in use it just sat in the room as an ottoman. BUT it was expensive, it was always difficult to set up and put down (you had to fold it JUST right), and all it took was one kid taking a running jump at it and the frame broke.

seems to me JB's chair-bed would not add well to room decor and adults don't like being down so low. In all my experience, lightweight roll-aways are not comfortable for adults: they sag when you sit, they scoot around when you turn over. No easy solution.
I once spent a night in a rustic inn with a goucho style bed - a couch that pulled out flat. In the middle of the night, some catch failed and it folded up like a giant clam with me inside. I had to spend the night as hot dog in a bun.

Let me clarify. This is not a room chair, not decor, this is something you could buy one or two of and stack away somewhere for addtl people. We don't want people crammed in a room, this is just an alternative to a roll away bed if you don't have one yet, and are looking for something for an addtl TEEN who is visiting a college or something. It is ADULT size meaning not a little child's chair that rolls out to a mat. Rollaway beds are expensive, ugly and as mentioned miserable to sleep on, the floor is better than a rollaway!
It is NOT A BED. It is not a replacement for a bed. It is a stuff it in a closet somewhere out of sight. When we were in Hawaii we had people stop by and we had these Futon-like chair/beds (same as these) that worked great, took up so little space, and no need to rent a larger place.

My grandparents used to have one like that for me when I was younger. There is also www.cymaxstores.com/Ameriwood-Sleeper-Ottoman-in-Chocolate-3516396.htm which is a lot cheaper.

Also I have been looking at replacing the single bed in one of our family rooms with a day bed similar to this.
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60162886
But the one I have seen has another single bed that roles underneath total cost for the day bed, 2 mattresses and the role away part is $600 which I don't think is bad for all of that, then it will also look more like a sofa.

What you are looking for is called a Trundle Bed and Ikea used to offer it. TROMSÖ is the name and IKEA part number is 501.618.25 The other is ODDA and the IKEA part number is 601.205.80 and goes with 901.205.50. Unfortunately, not all IKEA stores are the same, so there is no telling if they carry it in the UK.

exactly but there is a bed shop round the corner from me selling their display model for a bargain as they have had it in a year and a half and not sold any so I hopefully will get it for a snip and I won't even have to pay for delivery!
