We're restocking on towels and looking for information on quality differences. Most of the websites I've looked out don't have many details other than size -- making it really hard to compare brands. Thinking about switching from an 86% cotton/14% polyester to all cotton but not sure about the laundering. Any thoughts?

At the Inn, I used 100% cotton oversized towels from Towelmania (http://www.towelmania.com/ulovbato.html). Guests raved about them, and they laundered very well. I liked them so much that I just bought all new ones for the new house...and I swear you can't beat the price and you will be highly impressed by not just the size and weight, but the soft feel. You can buy the matching washcloths in bundles of 6 to save additional money too at http://www.towelmania.com/terry-washcloth-set.html. I even have a review posted for them and have given the website address to numerous guests requesting info on them.
We used white at the Inn, but ordered a nice pastel color for use here at the house.

I would go for all cotton they feel lush and wash well from personal experience. I would go for white as then you can mix and match and use bleach as necessary.

Best solution is to buy a few and test drive them. I have towels NOW I wished I had bought more of, and others I wished I had bought less of...

go here...lots of past discussion on towels https://www.innspiring.com/node/2158

Husband used to work for a linen company as a manager and said that cotton is good, but getting some or testing is a good idea. Said you should at least wash them 10 times-one with bleach, one without bleach and fabric softner. best way to keep track of how many times you've washed them and how is to mark the tag w/marker and rinse with hot water.

Speaking of fabric softner, the book "Running a Bed & Breakfast For Dummies" by BnBFinder.com president Mary White says...
Never use fabric softner on your towels. It coats the threads and makes them nonabsorbent, meaning you'll have to replace them sooner. Instead, add 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle once a month to restore your towels to full absorbency.

Thanks for the tip -- good prices and they even give the weight which is important to me,
Thanks!

I can pretty much guarantee you will love them, as will your guests. I used my originally purchased towels for more than six years without need for replacement...and I used fabric softener every load.

I agree with the testing as my godmother bought a ton of towels (from a posh shop) and they all fell to bits mind she took them to court and got her money back so that was a bonus.

We never used fabric softener in our own Inn and that is absolutely true Ark-but we have to use it here at this Inn because the water is so hard. Although we do wash the towels once a month without anything either detergent or fabric softner so that it has a clean start again.
