We have sadness in Shinnston

Today Our Public Works guys were working on a drainage issue and for some reason (I have no clue as I do not know the details) they did not have the trench walls up. We have it and our men are trained to use it, but they did not. The wall collapsed and a young man lost his life. We got the safety equipment after a wall collapsed years ago but fortunately that time it was only up to the waist and only a broken leg.
Please pray for my City as the rumor mill will have us pilloried. Prayers for the family also - we all need them. I did not know him so have to wait for the obit to know about family.

Sorry to hear. It is hard to drill safety practices enough. It may not have been the young man's choice to not use the trench walls, but someone was careless and he paid the price.
