We played around with the idea and have actually hosted 3 weddings to date, a 4th in December. I personally am not a fan of them as we can only control the noise factor so much (even though we state that music/DJ must be off by 10pm). We live in a rather quiet neighborhood and we stress over the noise levels. We do let all our neighbors know well in advance about the weddings. We have a fixed limit of 35 people on premise but that's 35 usually very drunk people by the end of the night and we worry about people who drive... there is so much liabilty in it. Another alternative we have started doing is offering:
We have started offering our venue for: Bachelorette Packages- Bachelor Party Packages- Wedding Brunches.. Rehersal Dinners..the number of people are less, the situation is more controllable and brings less stress for us :)

Never thought about the drunk people and liability. Wedding brunches sound like a great idea. Thanks for the info :) Appreciate it...

Hosting weddings has been discussed here many times, and there are some wonderful suggestions in the old threads on the subject. Use the Google Custom Search box in the upper right corner of this page to search the forum using the search term "wedding".

We are going to start an elopement package this fall that will host a maximum of 8 people. We anticipate it will be mostly couples and occasionally a couple of close friends.
We WILL NOT be doing small weddings.

So many cons and not enough pros. Search the forum for already posted threads about weddings. General consensus..more trouble than they are worth if you are not set up to be a real weddinng venue with all it entails.

Does anyone do weddings at their B&B? We are starting to explore this idea. Do you offer packages?
I will advice you to search on internet and have meeting with those wedding planners you like most and near to your locality. Wish you luck for future.

The wedding is often followed by a reception or wedding breakfast, in which the rituals may include speeches from the groom, best man, father of the bride and possibly the bride, the newlyweds first dance as spouses, and the cutting of a wedding cake. -Scott Sohr
