We're still marrying off DH's siblings! And now the nieces & nephews are getting married! My MIL has 18 grandkids ranging from 37 yo to 18 months. And 3 great grandkids ranging from 4 yo to 4 days (and one on the way). It's those 18 grandkids (17 nieces and nephews, thus far, that made us opt for the $50 or a gift of lesser amount). Odd how we might not even be around when the 18 month old is old enough to get married.I think $100 is a pretty standard if it's a cash gift..
Everybody's circumstance is different and there definitely is no shame of $50 cash gift. For weddings I really prefer to find a beautiful picture frame or other item on sale (something one doesn't usually buy for themselves) and give it as a gift rather than cash. You know what I mean...something that looks really expensive, but you didn't pay full price for it. Call me a tightwad! LOLWe're still marrying off DH's siblings! All through grade school two of my classmates were aunt & niece. One of my cousins was the same age as her uncle and she had her first baby at the same time as her youngest brother was born. When I was 16 I tpld my Mother - Thank you. She asked for what? I replied for quitting when you did. I did not want my kids growing up with my siblings. We're still marrying off DH's siblings! I have oodles of cousins who had oodles of kids. We were close so I was invited to most of the showers and weddings. When we would come home to WV for a vacation, I would go to the outlet store at the glass factory and load up on goblets. 6 wines, 6 waters, 6 flutes - and I would pay 50 cents per and each one got a nice gift of West Virginia goblets.Everybody's circumstance is different and there definitely is no shame of $50 cash gift. We're going to Ireland in late Sept/Oct for a couple weeks. Can't wait! Thinking about my vacation is what gets me through the tough summer season.Olga said:This is how my boyfriend thinks ... and we went on a nice vacation not long agoBreakfast Diva said:Even my accountant has declared that I "run a tight ship". Those who have overlooked an anniversary or birthday of a loved one know how hard it is to earn forgiveness. This year, compensate for all lost years by getting your spouse a great gift. You can get a pay day loan and purchase the thing he or she has been waiting for. Make sure you do it right this year to stay away from more embarrassment. Find out more at: Payday LoanDon't know what you decided to do, but having just gone through our son's wedding, I think that $100 (or equivalent on a registry) is a generous gift for someone who is not a siblling or child. $50 would be very much appreciated. You should do whatever is comfortable for you within your means...your niece will be grateful for whatever you give them..
