You're the boss. So what?
People don't follow you because you are the boss/president/manager. They follow you because of your leadership and what it means to them. They leave you for the same reason.
What do YOU mean to your people?

My ego is showing on this, but.....
When I was promoted to supervisor in the computer room, my senior operator was the dept dead butt complainer that I had a run-in with my first month on the job and who had seniority over me with the company. A couple years later he did leave the company - and then proceeded to call m to ask, "Chiefie! when are you going to go work somewhere else so I can come work for you again." I guess I did OK.

We so know this. You will follow a leader that makes sense and trusts you (they hired you) to do the job that you where hired to do. My hubbie has more boss experience than I do so he "understands" the boss's decisions than I do...even the critical parts...
