It's been about a month with the new site layout so here's some interesting factoids comparing old site layout with new...
  • More people are looking at the policies now that there is a drop down menu
  • Rooms at the top of the list get a lot more views than rooms at the bottom
  • Guests are clicking thru to the second reservation page (I was a little nervous they would abandon ship at that point)
  • The innkeeper page is not scaring them off the site (low bounce & exit rate)
To test the 'rooms at the top' theory, I will be moving the rooms around in the list and on the page.
And, not that we didn't know this - rooms with really good pix are booking faster than rooms with not so hot pix.

I just went there and the page is slow to load and the loading says "Waiting for tripadvisor.com"
FYI
Homepage is now up, but where is TA? I don't even see it there. Okay I worked it out, there is no BADGE, just says Rated Excellent with the link. You may want to take a look at that Maddie. Slowing down the home page., it wasn't even the slide show that slowed me down.

All seems fine to me and TA box is at the bottom of homepage, just left of center, if that's what you're talking about.

I guess I don't know what the 'badge' is. All I've ever had is what's there now. Even on the old site.
And, yes, it stinks if I have a link to something else and that's what's slowing the loading down. Maybe I should just remove the link and leave the gif.

There is no badge showing for me, just the text and link. The badge would be the little square saying we are rated Excellent by 100 guests or whatever you have. You can get it from your TA Mgmt side. I would remove the LINK itself. Put it on another page. You can have the RATED EXCELLENT there without the slow go

I really love the Packages page with all the drop downs for each one! That is terrific!
And your inn the news page, great!
it is there now, the TA box...was not there, held up the page. and now the font for the inn name on the badge is invisible unless you mouse over it.

OK, I have exactly what you're not seeing. Weird. Little box that says Bravo! Rated excellent by x travelers. Are you on Chrome?

BD said the same thing. Can't read the inn name unless it's on mouseover. Again, weird. I've tried this on Chrome, FF, IE, my Android, DH's Crackberry. It works on all of them. The font color is black. No reason it shouldn't read the same as the non-linked text.
Do you have problems seeing the links in the text up above? Or the email link to the left of the badge?
Thank you, too, for the comments about the stuff that's working!!!

I just went back on your homepage and the badge was the last thing to load and I still can't see your name until I put the arrow over it, then it shows up as a light goldish/yellow color.
I don't know if this info helps, but I just refreshed your page: the name of your inn comes up with white text with link underline before the rest of the badge loads. Once the badge loads, the name of your inn which was originally white text disappears. At that point if I put the arrow over where I know your name is, I see the light colored text of name/link

Maybe try something like this in your footer widget:
#footer .widget a, #footer .widget a:visited {
color: #a6bb87;
}

I can't fix something that I don't see! IE, Chrome, FF, Android, Blackberry - all of them show what I think should be there. Hang on, I'm going to try another computer. The other one with the different version of IE and Chrome still shows the entire text inside the box without mousing.
The custom css color for links is the gold color. The code in the box must be overriding it as it is gold when I mouse over it. Loading slowly is more of a dealbreaker than anything else.
So, does anyone else have problems with a TA badge loading slowly? Maybe I should just go get 'new code' it might have changed.

You could try that. Try one of the other widgets and see what you get. Let me know when you make the change and I can take a look. The other day I was rechecking the IN. B & B I just finished and I freaked out because the TA reviews widget and the other one in the footer disappeared! But the support guys sent me a screen capture and it was there. Turns out it was the cache thing in Chrome. Next day I could see it...go figure all these different browswers :-( GRRRRR.

FWIW, your site loads fine for me along with badges showing up. I'm using IE

Altering their widget (changing color, removing links...) violates their terms of service you agreed to when you grabbed the widget. Normally there is a minimal chance of getting "caught" but I do know you are in a competitve area with competition who might not think twice about raising an issue.

I didn't even think about that. As it is, it seems the new widget I picked up seems to be working for everyone so I might have had an old one where the code was broken in copying it to the new site.

the tA widget link took on the colors of your site's settings. It was your setting that you changed..not the TA widget one.

Odd that it only changed things for some browsers and not all. I have to wonder what else doesn't look right that looks fine to me! The link code should be the same for this new badge as it was for the old one and I'm seeing it the same way. But everyone else is now saying it looks ok to them where they couldn't see the inn name before.
