Have a supply of excellent photos in your "tool box".
I can come up with text just about anytime about anything - wrote a pitch and submitted it 8/27 re Destinations for a History Buff about the history located in WV. At 9:00 AM 9-02-2016, I have back-to-back online interviews with the person who requested the info. She is doing East,Midwest, and West and chose WV for the East.
There have been other things I could not do because I did not have the photos. Even this one wants photos of the things we re going to talk about. There are 2 things I do not have photos of - BUT I know the CVBs in the State and will receive the photos I want tomorrow. Good photos will not cut it - you need EXCELLENT and if possible in 300dpi.

Manage your ta page properly.
And by that I mean ask people who love your place to put up reviews and give people who have something they're not happy about every opportunity to let you know about it, before they get home to ta.

Listen to Joey and Gillum, etc….. They've been there, done that, and know what they are talking about.

Don't nickle and dime people..
That is so true.
I was speaking to a friend last week who booked a B&B single occupancy in a double room. When he arrived there were two sets of towels, a bottle of water on each side of the bed and 4 chocolates on the courtesy tray. When he came back after his day out they'd taken away 1 set of towels, 1 bottle of water and 2 chocolates.

Terrible! I want those two chocolates, too! If there's only one, we still have two sets of towels, soaps, etc. in the room and keep them up like that with the fluffs.

We have three sets of towels in every room. One is cheap looking.

I would add to this above ^^^^ - have an updated and current PR package ready.

And when you write replies don't do everyone the ruddy same! or if negative don't get on a crazy mega rant! _ you are not writing for the reviewer but the people who read it afterwards!

May -Sept we don't give single occupancy discounts, so it only seems fair to me that they get the full treatment.

I'd be super peeved they went into my room for something other than cleaning or an emergency.

We do not do single rates. I have to wash the entire set of sheets and clean the entire room and bathroom. As for food, I have had singles eat what I normally put out for 2. The room is priced for 1 or 2 occupants.

When you greet your guests at the door - Positive First Impressions are imperative, as they are so important and tend to set the mood and mindset of the guests.

I just read a review where the guests loved everything except the innkeeper asking to be paid.

It's interesting to see the different policies with all B&Bs. Upon check in we take them into the office where we confirm the reservation information is correct then settle up the bill. People are never blindsighted by this. I usually say "let's get the business out of the way so you can go up and relax!"

Okay, semi-irrelevant, but I took my daughter out to a nice family-style restaurant this week (she's 19 months but a big eater) and the waitress took her set of cutlery away. So technically she's not a person? I was so petty and enraged that she did not check on us once, so obviously no tip for her. We shared a napkin in which I cleaned up waffle mess off me, her, her highchair AND the floor plus my own face (the food is so good there, though...)
