Ugh... not sure what to say anymore. Apparently it's the season for hating me.

I don't hate you......
No, but it's been a spate of not so nice reviews, some of which are getting a little personal and putting words in our mouth. It's getting a bit tiring, especially since we haven't had a quiet day since May and I have to deal with my mom's pirouette and my own doctor visits. Apparently someone believes that I should be the Ritz Carleton with robots... something that I surely am not.

Do you think it's personal? I sure hope it's not someone out to personally hurt you.
The bad reviews hurt, whether we are stressed or relaxed. It's our life and we are doing our best. It's always personal.
Hugs.

It sounds personal.

BTW, when we have to seat guests close to the kitchen for breakfast we make a big deal about it. 'The chef's table' and that sort of thing. Lots of guests bring up gangster movies where the boss man always eats in the kitchen.
It's not the best spot to sit so we play it up.
Those guests have their backs to the dining room. They are right next to the kitchen. Some have opted to take that table day after day to watch the show.

We love you! I hit report on the nasty one. But look at those nice ones at the top!

I am sorry. You KNOW you are not good - because you are GREAT.

sorry.

Tis the season for the more critical. NOT a reflection on you.

Just got a 4. Someone finally commented on the derelict boats that are across the creek. Sigh. This is the time of year it will take quite a while to 'bury' that one. The county has a slow moving process to deal with it. I'll have to be creative in the management response. It can wait a few days.

Awww crud. I wish some of these reviewers could live just 1 day of our life. On top of that the stress of a long busy season that doesn't seem to end paired with physical & family stresses would just crack most people. Hang in there, take care of yourself and your mother the best you can. The season will be over soon and the normal guests will appear once again to give you your stellar reviews.

There's a restaurant where every sits around the chefs while they prepare the food. Can't think of their name right now…. It's the experience not just the food. You could put everyone's name in a hat and the winner gets the chef's corner!

If it makes you feel better, we've noticed the tone in our TA reviews has gotten a little more critical. Maybe something in the air or pre-election crankiness, perhaps?

Well, I think that is part of them saying that I hate .... specific people. I think it's really about the election and what they don't have then what we do have.

I don't believe that unless he just broke another teacup.

One is calling you a name. If you want it gone. Spelled it wrong, and it isn't "Paul".

If they call you something based on a religious or sexual theme you might be able to get the review edited. If they call you weird or odd or say you're a liar that's ok.

We haven't had a review since early August. Since we dropped to the bottom of the list in town we also haven't had a single reservation say they found us on TA. I know reviews are more important to you in your location than they are to me in mine so I wish I could offer advice on how to make these whiners go elsewhere.
Many of the things they are complaining about exist here as well so it bothers me that guests think it's ok to say 'they didn't have my particular brand of whatever' even tho the guest never mentioned WANTING whatever while they were there or before they arrived. (And we've had guests recently ask for a particular something that they never even bothered to open or thank us for. I handed it to them when they left, 'Here, no one else is going to use this you may as well take it with you.')
A/C units here are window versions. Yes, guests run them when it's cold outside. Yes, guests complain when they CHOOSE the least expensive room that it's not the best room in the house.
And anyone who says 'deep, restorative sleep' in a review is an ass. Who even talks like that? They should try sleeping in a room in Toulouse where the shutters are closed all night, there is no A/C anywhere in the city, and the lights are motion sensitive and go out about 10 seconds before you've found the door for the floor you're staying on and you're stuck in a pitch dark stairwell groping for the door. In a language you don't even speak! Yes, the darkness is different in an unknown language. ;-)

We've pointed that out. They refuse to remove it. Even if it isn't our name, they say it doesn't violate the rules. I don't understand. But I can't do much about it.
