How Many Bacons, Sausages, Eggs ??? (guests asking for 5-7 slices of bacon)

Our breakfast is served off of a menu that changes monthly (or if I have guests staying more than two nights, I'll add specials so it doesn't get boring). There are two savory options, two sweet options and an eggs any style with potatoes, meat and toast option. After a particularly large...

    Online Reservation System Comparisons

We have been with ResNexus and MyAllocator for a few years but, after some research are making the switch to ThinkReservations. Their rates are $10.00 per month, per room plus 3% for any OTA rooms that are actual stays. There is direct connectivity with Trip, B.com, Ex.com and B&B.com. The...

    Extra People

That's crazy. We've definitely ended up with extra children but no extra adults, to my knowledge. Two weekends ago I'm pretty sure we had a couple that brought along a child but we never saw him/her. We do allow children so that's not an issue but this couple checked in together, came to...

    It Has Arrived

Best present ever! We purchased an upright freezer a few months ago (for home) and just had a quarter side of beef and a half side of pork delivered last week. Every day is like Christmas and I find myself opening the door just to look at it.

    PAII Conference

Just signed up. I'm hoping for a better experience than last year. Hopefully having the lodging and conference in the same building will help.

Have you ever had this request?

When Oliver was still coming to the Lodge with me every day, I had guests that asked (and were given permission) to take him for a run. He was the most mild mannered dog and it wore him out so I was a happy mom.

Temping Generic To Visit Me.... The New Thread

I'm almost embarrassed to say I've lived here my entire life and have never traveled to western Pennsylvania. Love small town living though...we earned the barbed wire at the top of the drainpipe at the elementary center on the end of our street. We used to scale the pipe and play hide and seek...

Temping Generic To Visit Me.... The New Thread

Sounds absolutely lovely! I've only been in a small part of Italy; up north in Perugia, Modena, Bologna and Florence. I hope that you will have time to relax and recharge during all of your sight seeing.

Temping Generic To Visit Me.... The New Thread

Well if Gillum House ends up in Northeastern PA, she is more than welcome to stay here.

Temping Generic To Visit Me.... The New Thread

I read these boards almost every day and rarely sign in (mostly because I can't remember my password and needed to request a new one). I'd love for Generic to come visit me so we could discuss travel! I'll be in Thailand in November followed by Cambodia and a quick stop in Qatar on the way home.

    Christmas Coffee

Gillum, your fresh roasted coffee sounds amazing. Although I'm not a fan of coffee (Bring on the tea!) I absolutely love the smell of it. We buy whole beans and grind them but haven't yet ventured into the world of roasting. We have a Coffee and Pastry Shop inside the B&B and it has it's ups and...

At least they read the guest book...

Just had guest call to complain that their room is too hot (first point: it is only 55 degree outside tonight). Anyway, I asked if he had turned on the window air conditioning unit. He said "no because he read in the guest manual that the air conditioning was on a central unit and could only be...

    Coming out of the shadows....

Well now I feel smart. Canadensis is about 15 minutes east.

    Coming out of the shadows....

Hi undersea - I'm going to say no since I can't think of any towns starting with Can... If you're driving around though, our ramp is actually painted to match the rest of the building now!

    Coming out of the shadows....

Since I posted on at least two topics last week I figure it's time to introduce myself. I'm Carolyn and I have been managing this Inn for three and a half years now. I fell into innkeeping completely by "accident" as I was already employed by the organization that purchased the property. The...

One of the perks of being an innkeeper

I splurged today... french toast with a berry cream cheese spread and fresh berries. Uugh, and a slice of bacon. It was delicious!!

Interesting e-mail from The Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals

This is actually where I'm located. I feel bad when guests ask me about taxi services too. Sure, we have a taxi. It usually takes them about an hour to get here.

End of Season fatigue has set in

This loks like it will be the post that brings me out of lurking, lol. I am so grateful for a busy season and so counting the days until Labor Day. April, where are you going in India? I just traveled there last April and loved it. Guess I better come up with an introduction post now....
