I had the opportunity to stay at a hotel this weekend. It is good for me to do this now and again for my marketing effort. Not a beachside resort, or anything like that, just a regular (newer) hotel for a conference. It was on the nice end as far as hotels go, not Ritzy, but nice.

Some of the obv points, from me as a single female traveler:
- Long isolated corridors.
- Dogs yipping in rooms somewhere on my floor, prob left unattended.
- Smoke smells in the corridors from smoking rooms somewhere on my floor, I think very close to my no-smoking room.
- Dark not-well-lit parking lot - parking away from the hotel entrance and walking in on my own in the darkness.
- Staff standing at the counter. No "enjoy your evening" or such as you go in and out and pass them (lack of hospitality).
- Towels so thin and small I would be better off drying myself with a paper towel. With signs everywhere to save the planet and reuse these non absorbant towels.
- A/C droning on and off all night long, blowing the curtains open to the street.
- Laborers for nearby road project staying in other rooms. (No offense to working people at all, just commenting as a single female at this hotel, it made me feel a bit unsafe).
- Headboard (faux headboard nailed to the wall), not attached to the bed.
- WIFI that you had to pay for and then was iffy, and slow.
- Crumbs around the bed on the carpet.
- Continental breakfast - the FREE BREAKFAST they brag about. CARBS ONLY. Small muffins wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, cereal with lukewarm milk, toast, biscuits, empty coffee carafe, two super hot waffle makers that took over 5 minutes to make a waffle and place on a styro plate to try to cut with small flimsy plastic fork and knife, to which I gave up and picked it up and ate with my fingers like a savage. Oh and apple juice from the big machine that looked like urine, and watery orange drink that said orange juice, but was not.
- Good thing - close to the conference.
- Good thing - booked online.
- Good thing - easy cancellation policy.
- Good thing - got what I booked, no surprises.
