I just booked 2 different hotels for vacation. I looked up hotels in the general vicinity of where I'm going because I don't know what's there. One hotel that showed up on hotels com was less on that site. The other was less when calling directly. I got both at the lower price, but hotels are putting the prices up on the booking engines.
And, I didn't book hotels 5 weeks ago when I got my flight because I was looking for something less expensive. The hotel I booked today was $60 less/night than it was in Feb. Hmmmm.
Another vacation travel item - our credit card, the one we put the flight and the car on, emailed us with all the details of how we are protected using this card. What they cover in re the car rental, what they cover for emergency cancellations, etc. I thought that was helpful, albeit a bit big brotherish. More like, 'Hey, we noticed you booked plane tix and a car, you must be going on vacation!'
