I've just had a phone call which is not uncommon, from a local newspaper trying to flog me advertising in a special feature, in this case their Spring break feature.
I steer clear of paper advertising these days, unless it's cheap and a large area such as a national newspaper or a speciality magazine such as walkers, but the callers don't seem to understand that someone is not going to pay £80 a night to stay in a B&B that is 15 minutes drive from their house. Well, maybe 1 or 2, but not enough to justify the cost of a newspaper advert.
And tourists looking for a place to stay are not going to look in the local newspaper.
