We have one in the main dining area. It is used infrequently, but it does get used.
We had trouble finding a spot for it. It ended up next to the coffee maker in the spot where a tray of coffee cups had been before. We simply lifted the tray of coffee cups and put it on top of the microwave.

We get a lot of single business guests and they don't like to eat in restaurants alone so we have a guest fridge and microwave in our dining room. About one in ten guests use it. They are popular with the business guests and ones staying whilst studying at the local college as they are on a budget and it's cheaper to heat up their own food vs go out to eat at a nearby restaurant. Airing the dining room and the microwave itself of food smells is almost constant. Tip: heat up a thick slice of lemon in it to neutralise any odours.

We have one in each suite in our Carriage House and River House. Not in the smaller rooms in the Main House. They get used to heat drinks, pop popcorn and rewarm leftovers from the restaurants that give huge portions here.
The other advantage: It's a bonus amenity that along with a kerieg, mini fridge and gas-log fireplace, justify the higher room rate.

We have one in the dining room for community use and one in our suite with a kitchenette. Get's used infrequently for popcorn, leftovers, warming up coffee, etc.
One thing I have learned from prior to B&B experience is to never put a microwave with a timer dial on it. Meaning you turn the dial to how many minutes you want, then press start. People will open up the microwave before it finishes, get their food, close the door and walk away.
The easier the better. I like the ones with the Express cook and +30 Sec feature. Press the 1 and it cooks for 1 minute. Need longer, add 30 sec. Simple.

yes, the more we offer the better, it is not about us. Although we will never let go of that, since we live with it, whatever it is 24/7x365.
