I've found myself putting more and more signs in the rooms to explain how to use just about everything. I think they're tacky and I try to avoid them at all costs, but I'm a bit tired of hearing the dumb questions. I've always had a note by our remotes explaining how to turn on the TV and cable box, because I understand that every system is different and it can be frustrating. I still get questions about the cable, but it's pretty infrequent. I have a framed sign on the wall next to the Keuring with step-by-step diagrams and written instructions as to how to use it (still was asked once by a guest standing right next to the sign. When I pointed to it, he said, "Oh, didn't notice that".) I've had guests tell me they couldn't figure out how to turn on the jetted tub or couldn't figure out how to open the drain, so up went a framed sign by the jetted tubs. I had to add to the sign that guests can't use bubble bath in a jetted tub. I've had guests tell me the shower wouldn't turn on, so up went a sign stating you have to pull the handle out towards you, not just spin it around. Guests have turned on the AC while running the fireplace in their room, so up went a sign asking them not to do this (and I tell them at check-in).
Yesterday, I added a sign next to the GFI outlets in our bathrooms. Guests somehow inadvertently push the GFI "test" button when their plugging in their hairdryers & curling irons, then I'm told at breakfast that the hairdryer didn't work, or that the lights went off in the bathroom. The sign explains that if the hairdryer suddenly stopped working, hit the "reset" button on the GFI.
Do you have several signs in your rooms? If so, what's the most ridiculous one you've had to put up?
