I don't mind splitting peoples bills, for example last night I had two couples in but they made 1 booking for 2 rooms.
The problem is they expect me to know how much each should pay.
I don't know who is in which room and they are often different rates, some groups prefer to just split it down the middle others want to just pay their room rate. They've paid a deposit, sometimes they've paid it between them, sometimes one person paid it.
They expect me to know how much each should pay, it's not my responsibility to sort out their finances, it really irks me.
Last week I had two couple staying, first couple came down, I asked about the deposit, but they told me to split the balance in two and they paid half. When their friends came to pay and I told her the balance she said "but I've paid the deposit so you need to take that off my room", she was very insistent even when I explained. In the end I said "that's the balance for the two rooms, that's what your friends paid, somehow between the four of you you need to pay the remainder" and just let them get on with it.
