Yeah that is the thing isn't it, we don;t do it when we have guests, we do it AS A GUEST to test everything out, but really we should do it when there are other rooms occupied. But ain't happenin' here...I've done this. I wouldn't attempt it when we guests because I don't think guests would appreciate seeing me come out of the room next door to them. I don't even like going down the hallway when guests are in their rooms.
We had one guest insist someone was standing outside their room listening to them and all I had done was gone out the front door! They didn't hear the door, just the footsteps. They assumed someone was lingering in the hallway and questioned us the next day as to who was in the house!.
Plus, when there are guests there are other rooms to clean! Last thing I want to do is clean up after me, too!Yeah that is the thing isn't it, we don;t do it when we have guests, we do it AS A GUEST to test everything out, but really we should do it when there are other rooms occupied. Re outside the room listening, we had guests once tell us someone kept trying to open their door. What can I do? Nothing, did they try or was it another door? Who knows. I believe people try to go into the other rooms thinking no one is in there and they are snooping. I know they go in if they are unlocked, which is why they all remain locked!
But, I agree this is a good idea, and pack up a bag like you would if you were on the road, don't just go in with your toothbrush. This is when you notice things like DUST on ceiling fan blades, oi.

We did this a year ago. It was rather neat. I found out hey I like this place. Yes you can hear some one walk across one of the room floor. But hey your in a house after all. Yes I can hear a tv above one of the rooms .Some people like it louder then others. They all have their own entrances and bathrooms and decks . They have over 250 Squ Feet of living space. All things are working.taps not dripping Tolet paper extra roll in holder .Plunger in bathroom in case they need it. Cause they have put some thing in tolet that they should of not put in. They have every thing just have to bring their clothes. But it was a rather neat feeling being in your house and knowing how a guest must feel about your space. The only thing I missed out on was some one bring me breakfast. AND making up my bed.Yeah that is the thing isn't it, we don;t do it when we have guests, we do it AS A GUEST to test everything out, but really we should do it when there are other rooms occupied. My biz traveler uses 2 pillows. He removes the other 2 and the shams and puts them in the closet. Every time. For rooms with shams I usually find them used as I meant- as a back rest for the brass beds. But they are sometimes stacked on the floor or leaning up against the wall as if someone used them to sit on on the floor.I've stayed in 60% of my rooms. The rooms that get the most repeat business I have yet to test, as they seem to not need a close eye. But like most others here, I have not stayed when there are guests for much the reasons already posted.
As far as space for all the extra bedding, I do have space in most of our rooms but where does it get placed? You guessed it, on the floor or in the unoccupied chairs. Why don't they use the unused chest drawers or the empty armoire or closet? They don't even use these for their stuff!.
