Moon and Mesa Spiritual and Artist Retreat is a spacious guest bedroom, sitting room (or second bedroom featuring a large daybed) and private bath on the second floor of our home. Guests also have access to laundry facilities. The retreat is located on an acre of land at the foothills of Virgin Mesa in Jemez Springs, NM. The guest quarters has its own private entrance and balcony, and overlooks the Jemez River with spectacular views of Cat Mesa and Virgin Mesa.
Our retreat caters to creative and/or spiritually minded individuals who seek peace, privacy, and beauty. There are no workshops that our guests are expected to attend. Just relaxation and taking in the local attractions.
Artists may choose to sketch or paint the breathtaking landscapes of New Mexico and writers can take advantage of the mountain tranquility to work. Or just do nothing at all. There are many areas in which martial artists may practice their forms and the guest quarters include ample space for yoga practice.
What you do with your time here is solely up to you. You will also have no trouble sleeping with the soothing sounds of the river in the background and waking to bird songs in the morning.
There are many places of interest in the area. You may also just "hide out" in the sanctuary of your suite and on the property, enjoying the surrounding mountains and river. Your stay here may be as solitary as you wish.
The guest quarters include a beautiful gas fired stove with aromatherapy compartment for cold weather enjoyment, vaulted ceiling, hand painted faux-finish walls, saltillo tiled floor, an Old Mexico queen size bed with handmade carvings and European pillow top mattress, satellite TV, high speed DSL internet connection, dining area (not pictured), library, and a loveseat for lounging. The guest bathroom includes a vaulted ceiling and an old fashioned claw foot tub with shower next to a 5' window for mountain views while soaking. The guestroom is air conditioned, but our guests find that the ceiling fan cools the room quite nicely even on the extremely warm days of summer. And on the high desert, nights are much cooler than the days.
The sitting room can also serve as a second bedroom. The daybed has a luxurious oversized twin mattress. The sitting room also includes a large mini-fridge, toaster oven, coffee/tea setup, microwave oven, and dining table.
The suite was designed to give our guests a 360 degree view of the beautiful Jemez area.
