I opened the Aleksander House Bed and Breakfast in Louisville Kentucky 15 years ago, after retiring from the Chicago Public School system. As an educator I taught music, writing, English, ESL, and specialized in cognitive functioning as it relates to learning. I have been a writer and editor most of my life, and recently completed a two-year writing and editing project for the Bed and Breakfast Association of Kentucky, which resulted in a published hard-bound coffee-tablle cookbook, and a 2008 President's Award for work on the project.
I learned how to run my bed and breakfast on the job and have had a profitable business for years. But, due to the present economy, I've fallen prey to the small business/no business syndrome! I, like other small business owners, need to generate ideas for increasing and sustaining business during this most difficult time. I created my business blog www.innbusiness.blogspot.com as a forum to open communication between myself and others in the innkeeping community and to encourage comments and open discussion.

My other blog, www.innNotes.blogspot.com is about my bed and breakfast, an 1882, european-style, Victorian bed and breakfast in historic "Old Louisville" Kentucky, which is the third largest preservation area in the country. The Inn is completely restored and caters to business and leisure travelers. This blog details my life as an Innkeeper with info about guests, food and events and happenings in an around the Inn, and topics of interest to me and mt followers.
