How to get the best start - What to do to help a new Inn book well?

Your comments were helpful. We, personally, could do one year on a lean salary to help build the business, but not three. From ya'lls feedback it is wishful thinking to expect enough growth in the first year to support a more reasonable salary in the second year if that salary is based partially...

How to get the best start - What to do to help a new Inn book well?

The owners are responsible. I'm a pretty proactive person and that darn graphic design degree does tend to kick in. In deciding whether to take the risk, we are trying to look at things big picture. Part of why I asked for ya'lls opinions, was to get some perspective from those who are more...

How to get the best start - What to do to help a new Inn book well?

We are talking about a salary. The numbers would be low the first year, and then increase. The hope is the property would support a salary for innkeepers and cover costs at four bedrooms. Utilities, supplies, etc. No mortgage to cover, but of course taxes and insurance.

How to get the best start - What to do to help a new Inn book well?

Two couples own the one B and B. They do not want to do the day to day running of the business. We would be the third couple and Inn Keepers. They are looking at the Inn as an investment, and something that the town they love needs. My fear is how much money can come in from a small place, and...

How to get the best start - What to do to help a new Inn book well?

Dear Innmates, my handsome hubby and I are wannabees and we have been talking to some folks who own a very charming small bed and breakfast. They are new. We are new. It is small, four bedroom. (Room to expand to seven eventually) Small town. The place is not yet open, but soon will be. There is...

    Shut Down and Go?

I"m so sorry. If people don't understand your situation, then they are mean poopheads. A sitter and limited breakfast/or optional voucher for breakfast at a close restaurant sounds like a plan. Good luck, and go be with your family.

    Angel Investors?

Have you talked with the owners about buying it from them? Would they be open to selling it that way? Would they consider a monthly payment, instead of the big lump buy out?

Well I am not sure we will ever sell

Don't give up hope. You only need one good one. I'm sorry it is taking a while for them to find you. They may be just as frustrated. When they find you, may they feel as much joy and relief as you will.

We've been solicited by A famous TV show that fixes hotels....you know the one!

You can watch a few episodes on hulu for free and see what you think. I have to say that for me it's about half and half. By the end of the show sometimes I'm thinking, "That would be a really cool place to see, or go." A resent one was in a fishing location that looked really cool. One time...

    Crepe maker

I find crepe batter does better rested. Even overnight in the fridge. If that isn't doable, mix it first and let it mellow while you do other stuff. The longer, the better. Hope you have a blast with the new toy!

    What is it?

Don't worry about it and take it in. It's probably a femur from a dog or deer. Take it in and enjoy the story you will have to tell. Down in Florida, I called in some bones we stumbled on hiking, "They told us it happens regularly, no worry. And checked it out." They were animal, not people in...

    Crepe maker

I'm trying to figure out how to post a link to a youtube video. hrm.. Oster Electric Creperie Crepe Maker, was my first. If you put that in a search, you will probably see some on ebay. VillaWear classic crepe maker, is another brand. Not as cool as a pan, or a flat skillet, but easy and consistent.

    Crepe maker

It depends on how many you need to make, but my favorite way to make them is with the electric mound type. Two of those and a shallow pan filled with rested crepe batter and you can make a bunch to fill and keep warm. They aren't that expensive and are super easy to use and clean. My first one I...

    Pancake Artist of the Year...

I think both taste and artistic fun can be had. Me and the kid are going to get a squeeze bottle and play with this idea tonight. :)
