Discount request from air team member

Just got an inquiry for a one night stay from a 'team member' traveling to an air office visit in a nearby city. The request included a discount ask. I nicely declined and was pleased to use the reply learned from this forum: "...our discounts are carefully built into our prices".

That's right up there with travel agents asking for a discount for their own vacations.
And WTH??? They constantly tell us to go low with our prices and they want a discount???

The room had opened up due to a cancellation 5 days prior. It has subsequently been booked again - at regular price.

I don't understand the request. Why would you give a discount? What would be in it for you?
Professional courtesy? They get a benefit and you will never get one from them in return? Nothing fair about that. Good for you for saying no!
