It's been a long time since I've posted... we're still innkeeping and love our guests and inn. Seeing familiar and new faces on this forum, too, let's me know that there are many others who are still doing what they love, too. Over the last year Jim and I have made a decision to take better...

thanks for all your responses - liability issues was one of my big thoughts. I know a couple of people at city hall - I'll have to check with them about the regs for renters/taxes/regs. Fair housing rules come to mind, too... I want to talk to a realtor here that handles rentals and a landlord...

We live in a town with lots of older homes who have rooms to rent or potential for rentals. My idea is to be a clearing house for them, a matchmaker of sorts. I would be one of the resources for the homeowners - I would list a generic category on my website and refer people to them on calls...

we have an online system that shows availability. We don't have a vacancy/no vacancy sign outside.... is that a common thing to have? I'm not sure i'd want drive-bys all the time. I like the phone ahead reservation
