    Strata or Quiche for 50?

Either one. Strata is more economical and can be fully assembled the day before and baked the day of. They are heartier and quicker to make and serve than quiches. Quiches can be halfway assembled the day before (crust pre-baked, filling prepared etc.) and put together before baking. I like...

Wishing you the very best for your next chapter. Change can be challenging. Innkeeping is an amazing occupation. It certainly is never boring.

    legal cannabis

I'm also very glad to hear that it is working out! I wish Maryland would see the light. Would much prefer people smoking weed than folks drinking too much. We have had a few interesting episodes with drunks including one where the newly married bride called 911 because her new husband was...

    TA Renewal

Tracking is not an exact science yet but it is getting more precise all the time. The path of those booking after seeing and clicking on our listing can be tracked. I actually find it very creepy! I put enough credence into it to base our marketing decisions on it. We just got a new website and...

    Front Desk and Reservation Systems

We changed to ThinkReservations 2 years ago. It does interface with bedandbreakfastdotcom and bookingdotcom.

    TA Renewal

The only way to know if TripAdvisor (or any listing for that matter) has value is to check online stats. We use Google Analytics e-commerce and even though TA is crazy expensive they make us money. As long as the ROI is happening we pay up. The minute this changes we'll drop them.

    Front Loaders and Smelly Towels

To avoid bad smells it is best to remove the towels promptly from the washer when they are done and I have found that adding a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle is very helpful in preventing musty odors.

Good for you! It is nice to have family join in the "fun". Where is your inn located? We are so glad that the kids want to take over the day to day. Who would have thought! Our son couldn't wait to be out of here when he graduated from HS. Now he is back with his wife and little daughter. Our...

I am officially old and an encouragement today

You are so right! My mom passed away at 93, three years ago. I'm now the proud owner of her complete set of china. The one she got when she married in 1947. I bet she used it no more than 10 times.

    Think reservations vs Rezkey

A couple of questions: Are you required to use automatic credit card processing or do you have access to the credit card number? When a guest makes a reservation the cc# is stored. We access to it to process a sale but we never see the number. It is something I was leary of at first. Has not...

    Think reservations vs Rezkey

I don't know what the cost is to sign-up for ThinkReservation now. However, we have been using the system for 2 years. Here is what we like: 1. It's cloud based, real time and a responsive design. 2. It's very user friendly. For the guests and the backend. 3. Guests can make multiple room...

Hello, I'm new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Danielle and I live in Maryland. My husband and I started our inn in 1987. We have 13 rooms and we are in the process of passing it on to the next generation. I have been and still am very passionate about the...
