After 20 years of playing baritone sax in the Shinnston Community Band, last night and this afternoon, I played my baritone sax for the last time. As of packing it into its case today, it is now property of the Shinnston Community Band. Come April, I am hoping they will find a place for me in the percussion section (I think I can hit a triangle or crash a cymbals).
Sitting down and playing is NOT the most flattering position (look like a beached whale) but these not so great - but better than nuttin" - photos were taken by Himself today. The other one shows how big The Beast is and one of the reasons I have retired from "blowing my brains out" is my right wrist is getting weaker - and that is what supports the horn while playing, most of the weight on my right thumb. I do love that horn and the sound it makes.
