Accidently on a late night drive back home from Cancun (night 3) we pulled into a motel at the edge of a city. Tired, checked out the room first, the "boy" ran quickly, opened a garage door, told us to drive in, it closed behind us. hmm The room was clean clean clean ... nothing fancy, big king bed ... asked to see a room with 2 beds (uh hello there are 3 of us) he said there were none and how many hours. lol
OK, motels at the edge of cities are generally known to be booked by the hour. No questions asked. We left in search of a place that charged by the night with 2 beds in a room.
lol The young boy didn't even blink at the 3 of us. We had a good giggle.

Maybe they really did have an emergency...
bummer, though.
=/
Kk..
They could have had a real emergency...you never know. At least they left a note.
Speaking of possible "rendezvous" type reservations. I got a call today for a reservation & the gentleman told me that he preferred not to give the name of his lady companion. I know what I did. What would y'all do???
.
Here's what I said, "Oh, that's fine...I'll be sure to meet her when you check in." hahahahahaha!
I do want to know who's in the house in case of emergency....all I need is her first name to make sure what name to call her if there is a problem, God forbid.

On another thread we discussed those guests who we never even saw. It happens. Didn't you have that already in your next store accomo's?
.
Nope...I have met all the guests at check-in, even if late (which has been only 1 or 2). My dh is a different story...there have been several "phantom guests" that he never laid eyes on.

I thought of this thread today as our guest here on her own knocked on the kitchen door to let me know she was going for a jog. Odd, to let me know, then I was thankful she did. Not that it is not safe, but if I went to find her and she was gone...I would know why.

Interesting that you said that because the women here on their own do tend to do that with me, too. Probably a good thing for them to think that there is someone who will be concerned about them and one of the reasons that they prefer a B&B to a hotel. Of course, in my case if they're in their early 30s, they may be thinking that it's a good idea to tell "Mom" where they're going. haha!

Then, our 2 ladies who were not much younger than me & just here for 4 days were always coming by to get advice on where to go for shopping, etc. & telling us what they'd discovered in our little burg. It was very cute!

A couple of years ago we had a male (30+ yr old) long term guest that went "missing" for 48 hours. First I noticed he had not come in the night before, then I received a call from his sister (she had visited him one weekend). She asked if we had seen him as he had not touched base with any of the family in 24 hours. This was unusual as his family was real close.
The Mom asked for me to go in his room to see if he was in there and needed help - "what if he fallen in the bathtub" - Well that was a vision I really did not relish to become reaility! I assured her that his truck was not there. "Well what if someone broke into his room, hurt him and stole his car"? As most Mom's her mind was really working hard. As I spoke, reassuring her that our B&B was in a safe area, I went into his room. Nope, not there!
Speaking with his sister again, I told her to check with his company, some of his work buddys etc. And if nothing, she should call the police. I had it in my mind that he took a little side trip with a friend to a casino (something he mentioned wanting to do).
After several phone calls and many long hours, he showed up. He had been in an accident was in the emergency room for all this time. Head injury and they would not let him move. Cell phone would not work in that area. - He did not realize just how many people were looking for him.
From then on, he kept me informed.

We had a rental house in the mountains in Julian CA where the renter guy was knocked off. We only found out when the FBI came calling to get into the house and look over his stuff.
I remember getting all his Jimmie Hendrix LP's. We could never locate any family - to this day we think he was in the witness protection program. It was a bizarre situation.
