There would be a separate forum for JUST decorating. I think it would be helpful to alot of innkeepers who want to change their decor, and who need help doing that. How is that different from what we have now?

I'm curious, are you opening up your rooms to critique also?trishany said:We could all exchange ideas on changing and/or updating our B&B's. We could post pictures, and know everyone's opinions.
I think it would be a great help.
For being in Podunk, I am very successful - I am still open after 12 + years! Not every B & B is lace and frills. Mine certainly is not and I know many others that are not. Most of us decorate to fit the locale and the house. A log B & B is not going to try to look Victorian in their decor and an inn in Alaska will definitely not look like the Old South. I do not think there is a typical decor for B & B.There would be a separate forum for JUST decorating. I think the decor of a B&B can make a not-so- successful B&B, VERY successful.
I think we should start getting away from the frill, the lace, the baskets, etc. and bring B&B's to a not so stereotypical place to stay.

Almost like my posting my photo and having everyone give me staging ideas while I was running back & forth. Obviously I wasn't going to go shopping at that moment to get what everyone was saying...throw pillows, table skirt, etc, but I have those written down now.Sorry, but no need to set up a separate forum. Swirt has enough to do with this one
Actually there is a decorating Forum on About.com. Or how about posting at HGTV's RATE MY SPACE. Or if someone has a room they want us to check out, they can put it in a post here. Let's keep it simple
As Kathleen stated, everyone has different spaces and what works for one person may not work for another. To each his own..
I think what everyone is saying that if you have a decorating question or want input, you can post it under "Inn the Guest Rooms" or whatever place is appropriate. We don't need another whole forum topic. There is plenty here to look at already & Swirt has his hands full with this forum.I don't see the need for another forum topic but do not see a problem with the discussion either. Just like any other discussion here, we all have different ideas to share. Some that are useful to the original poster and some that are not. There is nothing wrong with tossing ideas around on any subject..
I don't think there are actually that many that are frills and lace. We aren't.There would be a separate forum for JUST decorating. I think it would be helpful to alot of innkeepers who want to change their decor, and who need help doing that. How is that different from what we have now?

But we don't need a separate forum to do it. Just post under the appropriate category..just like we did with Bree last weeki actually think it's a good idea.
inn decorating. or inn style or something ..
specific questions about how to decorate certain areas, or how to stage a room. or how a picture might look better.
yes, we all have our own taste and might not care two bits about some of the ideas given. but something might click.
of course, i don't want to make more work for swirt..
