My grape vine is finally producing grapes!! Lots and lots of little baby ones! They're so cute! That vine has been there since we moved in and never gotten grapes! I guess I pruned it too much or something! But last year after we got the pergola up it started growing over the top and we let it because we like the shade.
This area was Big on wine and every home had their own small vineyard (German community). A grape vine was brought to our little town from some famous vineyard in France over 135 years ago and vineyards all over town were started from it. And then one day the French vineyard burned. The owner came to our little town to get a branch from our vineyard and replant from it in France! Kind of a cool story!
The man who built this home 134 years ago had a vineyard and made wine and it actually won first place at the St. Louis or Philadelphia State fair (I can't remember which). Wouldn't it be neat if its an original vine from his vineyard!
Is there any way to know what kind of grapes they are?? How do you know?
