I believe it is in the original set up of the WP. But...your hosting company does have its own settings and I don't know how you overwrite it...except to contact them. It is a security feature the hosting sets up..
Which is why I'm surprised that this hacker is getting 20 attempts each time they try to access the site. I got blocked after 6 wrong pw attempts!EmptyNest said:I believe it is in the original set up of the WP. That is a different protections...being done in WOrdfence. they keep trying anything Yep...just wanted to check your site to be sure it was ok.I believe it is in the original set up of the WP. However, it is always the same IP address and I'm not the only one having problems with this 'company'. So I'm going to block the IP address.
Just got another notice on the 4th attempt today.Never mind, that's YOU logging in!

I went thru WordFence and upped the ante. You get fewer attempts and get locked out longer. And I blocked the IP address. Altho I don't see how I can block that one from attempting to login, I blocked it from viewing the site, which I don't think is the same thing. I might need the 'professional' version for that.EmptyNest said:That is a different protections...being done in WOrdfence. they keep trying anything Yep...just wanted to check your site to be sure it was ok.
According the the live view this IP address has been hitting the site every couple of minutes for the last 4 hours. You have to go to the dashboard / users. Set up a new user with different log in and Pw and then delete the old one. You can't be logged in as that user and delete it, have to go in as the new user and then delete the old one.According the the live view this IP address has been hitting the site every couple of minutes for the last 4 hours. Another question, tho, how do I change the WP userid for the login? According to WordFence, the attempts are getting too close to the actual userid for that account. (That's pretty neat that they list all the variations of names attempted.)

I remember doing this wrong last time! I have to 'move' everything to the new user. Right? You have to go to the dashboard / users.
