Like I told you. If you go with the one I suggested they will handle all the migration for you..
Oh, that's just twisting my arm!EmptyNest said:Like I told you. If you go with the one I suggested they will handle all the migration for you.
I'm moving the old site to the new host. I can't have the same site running in 2 places at the same time. I was guessing this is a short term op, like an hour or so. Buy the space at the new host, then do the move, check to see it's all working and close the old account. You put the new site up. You check it is running. You move the DNS. You take the old site down. You should have a month of overlap, since you need both running at the same time.
Are you running any software or is it all just HTML?.
You need to find out what directory your site is in on your old host, FTP it from your old host to your machine.I'm moving the old site to the new host. I just had no idea WHAT or HOW to move. Set up the same directory tree on the new host first? Then move everything into the same folders as before. How do I do that?
Like JB said, hopefully there is a tutorial. Or, like EN said, let her do it for me!
My site is all HTML. I am not running anything on my site except a Flash slideshow. But, all of those files are already in my tree.

Basically, you download all the files in the public_html directory and then upload them into the new public_html directory.I'm moving the old site to the new host. That's what we did. The new host company took care of everything.EmptyNest said:Like I told you. If you go with the one I suggested they will handle all the migration for you.
I don't know what it would cost to have EN do it, but it's important that it be done right and not get messed up and have even one aspect not work ..... because it provides your income. I know you like to design it, control it and I love your site ... but for the move, like moving fine furniture, I'd hire a professional.I'm moving the old site to the new host.
