It's because it is so far away. It's easy to see yourself getting to Europe, whole other kettle of fish to go to Australia...

Especially for the UK market with us being in the EU we can go anywhere in Europe really easily hop on a plane or train and your there where as OZ is a 24 hour flight! they do a daily program here where a family wants to move to OZ and they help them move there for 2 weeks all paid and sort out jobs etc for them to see if they really want to move or not. People are a bit green as they think OZ is really cheap where as it is about the same as the same as the UK in the big cities. (ie think they will sell a tiny house in the woods and buy a mansion with a pool in austrailia)
