"The whole town is one big bed-and-breakfast." Frederik Mayet, head of the Oberammergau Passion Play press office and the actor who plays Jesus, ...

Note - If you have never heard of Oberammergau please read this article, I worked with a Lobbyist who had his tickets to this 2010 performance years and years ago. He told me all about it and I found it very interesting.

I've been there, but not when the play was being presented. The town is worth seeing on its own. Just beautiful.

I was there in 2003... gorgeous little town. Our tour guide said they start the play in early spring (April?) and run through late fall, and it's an outdoor theater, so the seats all have heaters under them.

When I was growing up overseas my parents did go to this. I attended something similar called "Tell Spiel" which was the story of William Tell by Shiller. The whole town performed it and it was very exciting, with horseback riding across the outdoor stage and everything. I bet it's just as hard to get those tickets these days. I don't recall how often they performed it.
