It took sledge hammer and sawz-all to remove the fiberglass surround & plaster around our bathtub (it was impossible to remove it - we wanted a walk-in for Himself) down to studs. My daughter put up greenboard and then tile. (I got him a shower bench for the tub)On DIY TV I've seen them take a sledge hammer to bathroom tile and they have it down and cleaned up pretty quickly so they can put in new tile, or some other water-resistant wall material..
When you hit tile with a hammer please wear eye protection for your safety, my suggestion would be a heavy scraper type tool and work in from an edge, it will often pop the tile from the backing. If not also replacing the tub, protect it with heavy cardboard or blankets so that it is not chipped from the falling tileYup ... the sledge hammer took out my bathroom in about 15 minutes. Demo, especially if you're not trying to save anything, goes quick..

I would think it goes without saying but good to remind.JimBoone said:When you hit tile with a hammer please wear eye protection for your safety, my suggestion would be a heavy scraper type tool and work in from an edge, it will often pop the tile from the backing. thanks for your video, seashantySine they’ve already been painted I don’t know what choice you have but to repaint
You have to buy a special epoxy for tile ... looks like the most work, like any painting project, is cleaning and prep
i found this video that shows all the steps

Good luck.
