I figured this needed it's own thread. Some of you may remember way back when we reported on our attempt to switch from RE zo g t to Res Nex and the end discovery that neither of them were all that we wanted but that we would end up returning to our original software rez gt. Well, their product improved enough at that time to meet our needs and we left if alone for a couple of years. So fast forward to the changing world of web based products.
So now, its 2013 and rezo comes out with a web based software- they promote it with a bit of fanfare- we sign up and switch. We go on a trip- complete disaster. Totally horrible experience trying to access the product through a random computer. We figure out it runs off Micro soft Silver light, has a host of complications and bugs, and is essentially worthless to us. We get home and immediately switch back to gt. THen the idea of being hooked up wit htrip connect comes up and the gt folks are dragging their feet to get set up. THEN THE SEARCH BEGINS.
We go back to take a look at res nex and discover that the product is much better now. HOWEVER, I know that my inn mates have happily used Reservation Key for a while and I take a look. We hook up with John, download a trial, run it parallel to gt for a couple of months, ask a lot of annoying questions, and bada bing, decide to make the switch.
The annual cost savings for us is over $600 and the program worked flawlessly when we traveled with it in February and again in March. Worked on our android. Worked on our mini-tablet. Worked on a hotel computer. It just always worked.
The challenge of switching was far more scary in my head then it actually turned out to be. OF course, we have a big website redo coming up and that is going to mean finding some ways to make Reservation Key do some things for us that we haven't gotten around to yet, but it is proving to be adaptable enough to make most things possible.
I do wonder why I would want to pay 3 or 4 times the price for something less. So finally a question....
Have you tried and had good success customizing Reservation Key to do things that it might not do right out of the box?
