Mine wasn't that old... I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Ditzy wasn't right. Just, well, needy, inattentive, and not so bright.
=)
Kk.

Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Gee, I think the crazys are coming out of the woodwork.. Is there some B&B terrorist out there putting something in our water???

That one seems to have taken the "turn your brain off while on vacation" concept to an excruciating extreme.
What age group?
Could they have been suffering from Alzheimer's?.
no - not alz, just super passive agressive - not even plain needy.
It's hard to describe.
For example, in the breakfast room, I serve the fruit starter and she tells the other guests LOUDLY that it's lovely, but she had rather hoped for some orange juice. I came back into the dining room and said that I was just about to ask who would like OJ and she should know by now that all she has to do is ask.
Guests on the porch asked for mosquito repellent. I gave it to them. The PITAs heard about this and when I asked them how their day had been said that it had simply wonderful, except they had been eaten alive by mosquitos and that they supposed there was nothing they could do about it.
All this said with a sweet smile and a sour face.

Oh, yeah, you got them alright. Sorry for your pain. They're gone, do the happy dance...in the rain...

I am floored that such a person would ever inflict her presence on you od all people. Just from posts, I think I know you well enough to say your bubbly personality would charm a donation from a pre-ghosts Scrooge! Happy belated birthday..
Thanks K
I can usually kill 'em with kindness, but in this instance I just wanted to kill 'em. I think they thought they were classy and the more I gave the more they took almost as if to show that they knew more than anybody about how things should be done.
I'm not going to change how I do things one little bit. I pretty much always have stupendous, wonderful charming guests who know they can have pretty much whatever they want and never take advantage of it.
To hark back to a previous post - I have jars of candy in a couple of places, stacks of granola bars, a guest fridge full of soda and very very rarely had a guest abuse it .... in fact, I've had guests think they've "taken advantage" and bring me refills.

WEll I just lost I do not know how many rooms - sounded like 3 rooms for 3 nights maybe - until I was told one person had a dog. Are you pet friendly? Sorry, we do not do pets.
He called a couple days ago while i was out - told DH he wanted info sent to him and told DH the dates he wanted. DH asked if he had seen my web site (knowing everything is there) - Oh, yes but I want info sent. It made me cringe because the last day was the day I am marching with the alma mater band. I did a look-up on the name and called to ask what kind of info so I could send what they wanted. He tells me dates a day earlier than he told DH - cool, I can do that. Can I just take the reservation for you then? How many rooms do your need. One car is from Pittsburgh, one from Philly, and one from Illinois and the Pgh guy has his dog.... Uh, not here/ Just forgetthe whole thing. I think he thought I would cave on my rules for such a large multi-night booking. FOOL!!! That one had PITA written all over it!!!

I have a theory. Remember FDs horrible PITA? Well, during her stay at FDs, in the middle of the night the aliens decended and left the body snatcher pods. They have multiplied by the hundreds and are now on the loose...it's invasion of the B&B body snatchers and they're multiplying all over the country. Beware, they could be on your porch right this minute! I tried to fend them off, but I was attacked last week.

We had one of these on Friday night.
Called on Monday, we only had one room available for one night only, cheapest room we offer, wanted a senior discount, told her we don't offer discounts for a one night stay on a weekend regardless of age.
Very unpleasant and kind of bitchy on the phone.
Might have cut a few bucks off if I'd gotten even a modicum of respect or congeniality from her.
Emailed her the confirmation with .pdf of map & directions because she said they'd not be home to receive the hard copy we also send in the mail to every guest.
The confirmation states this and we ask all guests expecting to arrive after 6pm to call us when en route so we can plan our evening and be sure to be in the office to greet them.
No call as of 7:15 so I went into our space to cook dinner while the wife talked long distance with her ailing dad. At 7:30 after hanging up with her dad, the red light meaning a call came in is blinking. Its from the native american casino up the road and the background noise is so loud I can't make out the cell phone number she left.
We call back and it was a pay phone and whoever picked it up had no idea who could have made the call.
Now why someone who is both lost, late and has a cell phone in her possession would need to go into a noisy casino to call here from a payphone to leave her cellphone number is one of the great mysteries of this past weekends.
She never gave me a cell phone number when booking.
About an hour later she calls and is irate, befuddled, highly agitated, perplexed, scared, etc.. because the Mapquest directions she downloaded INSTEAD of the ones we sent AND her GPS unit sent her into the hinterlands. She has a local girl in her car and with the three of them talking at once I'm trying to decipher where exactly they are, which is only a mile away.
99% of our guests listen when I tell them that the map & directions I send are the most accurate way to find us and almost every guest who gets lost are the ones who ignore that advice and think they know better. That 99% also share that they couldn't believe how easy it was to find us despite us being out in the country a little.
Even with me staying on the phone with her and having kidnapped a local, it takes them like 15 more minutes to get here.
So its like 8:45 now and they are so hungry and angry that the check in tour is a waste of time.
Yeah, I know...... so when during that hour they were wandering the area, why did the thought of calling here again NOT occur to them?
I show them to their room and the wife is grabbing the menu binder and phone to show them where they could still get some dinner and call to get them a table.
"Is this the ONLY room you have available?"
"Yes, when you booked on Monday, this was the only room available and we didn't have any cancellations since then"
"Well, I need a room with a bathtub"
"I'm sorry, none of our rooms except our largest and most expensive suite have a bathtub"
"We do have a nice outdoor hot tub on a little hill overlooking the property"
"We don't do hot tubs"
"Perhaps, a nice quiet evening out on the porch stargazing will help you relax then"
"We've gotten you a table at a wonderful restaurant just 5 minutes up the road and we hope you can have a nice meal and then enjoy a quiet evening"
"Well, you better not get us lost again"
Actual words.
"No, here is a nice, clear diagram I give all the guests for finding this place and its really easy to find and we haven't lost a guest getting to or from there yet"
About 99% of our guests eat at least one of their dinners at this place, so its in the multiple hundreds per year.
Next morning and I see the extremely sweet, but totally henpecked husband at 6:30am taking a stroll down our road. Plotting his getaway possibly. I'm in the sunroom making coffee at 7am and he comes back and wants to follow mne around like a lost puppy in need of somebody, ANYBODY normal to talk to. I explain that we're really full and I have lots to do, so he must have paced back and forth and went in and out of his room about 20 times, undoubtedly waking others up.
The wife finally comes out after 9 for breakfast and is just as unpleasant and angry as ever and starts picking apart the entree choices to see just how far the wife can be pushed before running out of the kitchen with a knife.
We always ask folks how they slept and how their day before was and a few stated how wonderful the stars were while soaking in the hot tub.
Last actual words out of her mouth to us before slinking off to her car without even saying anything else, were "A hot tub? I would have liked to have known about that."
Why, oh why do these types HAVE to choose B&Bs?

Priceless....
Happy Belated Birthday!

They just left here...I dont think I have ever wanted guests to leave quickly more than these folks. To the point where I had hubs cooking their breakfast before they sat down at the table. Maybe separately they would have been ok, but traveling together they had gotten on each other's last nerve and then went to work on mine.
