To vacuum or not to vacuum...timing is the question.

Can anyone recommend a good carpet sweeper? I want the old fashioned kind that is non-electric but cleans up floors as well as carpets. They are good to use inbetween for cleanups that don't disturb guests.

I have a Shark. Battery operated (recharge - comes with charger), it is better than the old Bissell in clean up and is very quiet. I use it in the dining room at any hour that I spot stuff on the carpet. My dining room (carpet) is in the traffic path of the house from kitchen to anywhere else in the house (we use kitchen entrance for us). Love it! Also use it in the hall/foyer downstairs whenever because it is so quiet.
