There has been a good discussion on PAII about inns with cheap, single-ply toilet paper (guests don't like it) and I wanted to share this interesting post from Scott Crumpton of White Stone Marketing:
Luxury amenities are an interesting subject. Here's some other observations along those lines.
King size beds are now very much in high demand in a way similar to when jacuzzi tubs began to be ten years ago.
Comfort height elongated toilets (the taller ones) are now the norm in higher-end properties and homes and pardon the phrasing but lower/round toilets are now looked down upon like cheap toilet paper.
Lastly, I'm seeing more bidet toilet seats as a high-end amenity. The nice thing is that they function just like a regular toilet seat until someone wants to use it as a water fountain ;-) Installing them is also a piece of cake "if" you have a plug near the toilet (which isn't very common I understand).
I didn't know it but 95% of households in Italy have bidets and in predominantly muslim countries they actually use a sink sprayer attached to the toilet (saw that one personally and boy was I baffled until I read about it!).
If anyone is building an inn from the ground up I highly recommend the GFI plug in the commode area and four-outlet plugs in the bathroom and beside the beds. This last one is a simple conversion for any of you and an important one I believe. It never fails when I go to an inn or hotel that in order to plug in my phone I have to start yanking plugs out of the wall next to the bed and sometimes they're way behind the headboard.
Food for thought ;-)
