I made this pie and while it was good, I wouldn't call it award winning, but let's work on it. The custard part of the pie was lacking a little something - could have been a tad sweeter, and there was a flavor missing - perhaps some vanilla. The whipped cream with rum needed to be a little sweeter, too. It was just on the edge of being unsweetened whipped cream. It was nothing like I was expecting for a whipped cream that goes on a dessert. More sugar there, and use powdered not what the recipe calls for. The dark rum in the whipped cream did give it that "something different" that I was looking for.
I will try this pie again, but making some changes to it of my own to see if I can improve upon it. We all enjoyed it, but it wasn't that WOW!!! that I was looking or.
